Karen graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design (NSCAD) in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Art. Upon graduation she established Konzuk to realize her vision of designing and producing clean and considered contemporary jewelry. Influenced by the European aesthetic of designers such as C.F. Dau and Niëssing, Karen created a body of work which focused on the experimentation of materials and the subtleties of design. Everyday objects, as found in architecture and industrial design, became the inspiration for her body of work.

Established by Karen Konzuk in 1997, Konzuk applies the minimalist aesthetics and clean designs found in modern architecture, interior design and industrial design on a smaller scale to its jewelry line created from nontraditional materials such as concrete, stainless steel, and powder-coated enamel. Its products appeal to those who appreciate, celebrate and create contemporary designs that result from the merging of pure materials with discreet style. Using techniques and materials previously reserved for industrial use, Konzuk jewelry blends a public expression of individual style with highly personal elements such as hidden colours and diamonds known only to the wearer.
